This year's composers were TJ Cole, Chelsea Komschiles, and Nils Verosky. Colburn stepped down as director of the <a href="http://www.marineband.marines.mil/">United States Marine Band</a>, known as <em>The President's Own</em>.&nbsp;Colburn joined the USMB in 1987 as a euphonium player, quickly becoming principal euphonium. He worked his way up through assistant director positions until he became the 27th&nbsp;director in 2004.
