After 77 Years, Etiquette Advice Returns To Radio In New VPR Feature

Awesome Etiquette Hosts Lizzie Post and Daniel Post Senning

After five generations, Emily Post’s family continues the tradition of bringing etiquette advice to the airwaves with Awesome Etiquette, a weekly feature on VPR.

Beginning this Sunday, June 14th, Lizzie Post and Daniel Post Senning, great-great-grandchildren of Emily Post and hosts of the Awesome Etiquette podcast from American Public Media’s Infinite Guest network, launch a weekly etiquette segment on Vermont Public Radio. Tune into Weekend Edition Sundays at 10:40 a.m. to get answers to some of today’s most pondered etiquette questions or scenarios from the Burlington-based Emily Post Institute, the country’s leading authority on etiquette.

"Lizzie and I are simply ecstatic about bringing etiquette back to the airwaves after 77 years!” said Daniel Post Senning. "A whole new generation is searching for relevant etiquette advice and this opportunity will put us in front of that audience. We could not be more eager to begin."

"We're thrilled to have Awesome Etiquette joining our Sunday morning lineup," said Franny Bastian, VPR's director of programming and production. "We are lucky to have the Emily Post Institute based right here in Vermont, and we've enjoyed getting to know Lizzie Post and Daniel Senning Post over the last year as they've come to VPR studios to record their weekly podcast. We think our listeners will appreciate their down-to-earth etiquette advice and the local connection."

From 1930-1938, Emily Post hosted regular national radio segments which solidified her status as the nation’s trusted etiquette expert. Five generations later, Lizzie and Daniel pick up where Emily left off, by hosting the Awesome Etiquette podcast on the Infinite Guest network from American Public Media, where they answer tricky questions around events like weddings and travel to dining with friends and with business colleagues. The opportunity to bring some of the podcast onto the airwaves gets back in touch with how Emily Post rose to fame with her sound advice.

Listeners can send questions to Lizzie and Dan at awesomeetiquette@emilypost.com or tweet them to Lizzie (@LizzieAPost) and Dan (@Daniel_Post) using #AwesomeEtiquette.

The full Awesome Etiquette podcast is released each Monday. You can subscribe online here or by searching in your preferred podcast player.
