All kinds of wonderful singers, from world-reknown fadista Amalia Rodrigues to Swan Arcade, a trio that may have recorded the only known a cappella version of the Kinks classic Lola! And of course, previews of all sorts of live performances in the VPR listening area this week.

This program airs on Sunday August 10th from 7 - 10 p.m.

This week's calendar announcements:

On Sunday, August 17 the 16th Annual Calais Concert will be presenting Música Folklórica, celebrating the folk music of South America. The concert will feature Vermont songstress Deb Flanders, Peter Sutherland, John Dunlop, Laura Markowitz, and Sofia Hirsch and also the Alturas Duo, featuring Scott Hill and Carlos Boltes.  Music begins at 4 p.m., and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Vermont Folklife Center.

Young Tradition Vermont will be well represented at this year’s Celebrate Vermont Festival during the weekend of August 15-17 at the Stowe Events Field in Stowe. Featured performers will include the Zeichners, Hazen Metro with Dominique Dodge and Rob Ryan, the Stone Cold Roosters, Michele Choiniere, and many more.

The Meeting House on the Green in East Fairfield presents Colin McCaffrey on Sunday August 17 at 7 p.m.

Woodchuck’s Revenge will play Thursday August 14 at the Belmont Green in Mt. Holly at 7 p.m.

Ray Bonneville and the Blue Warblers will play at Petit Campus in Montreal on Tuesday August 12 at 7:30 p.m.

Red Clover and the Hermit Thrush will perform Friday August 15 at Manhattan Pizza in Burlington beginning at 10 p.m. and on Saturday August 16 at Bagitos in Montpelier at 6 p.m.

Village Harmony will perform in Peterborough, NH on Monday August 11 at the Peterborough Union Congregational Church at 7:30 p.m.

Chickweed will perform at the Barton Fair on Friday August 15 at 3 p.m.

Rick Norcross and his Ramblers will play at Clinton Community College in Plattsburgh, NY on Wednesday August 13 at 6 p.m.

Willa Mamet and Paul Miller will perform this week at Brown's Market Bistro in Groton on Thursday August 14 and at Buch Spieler in Montpelier on Friday August 15

The Free City Hall Park concert series in Burlington presents Kat Wright and her Indomitable Soul Band on Wednesday August 13 and musicians from Young Tradition Vermont on Friday August 15.  Music for all shows begins at noon.

The Westford Summer Concert Series presents Bill Staines on Sunday August 17 on the common at 6 p.m. The rain location will be the Westford Library.

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
