Analysis: Shelburne Museum Shifts Focus

Shelburne Museum
The Shelburne Museum has become a year-round destination for art admirers.

The Shelburne Museum has been around for almost 70 years now. Often considered a Vermont treasure, its sprawling campus is home to one of the most important collections of American folk art and artifacts in the country. It has more than 150,000 objects in its permanent collection.
But the museum's leaders are taking it in a new direction, and that's caused some uneasiness among Shelburne Museum fans. Seven Days reporter Kathryn Flagg just wrote about the evolution of the Shelburne Museum in the paper and shares a little bit about where the museum wants to be heading.
