Art Hounds: Blueprints, Poetry And A Call To Artists

This week, our Art Hounds have found carved wooden art, a book launch of a new poetry collection, a call to artists and an exhibit that takes another look at aging.

Through August 21 from noon to 5 p.m. at Waitsfield United Church Village Meeting House in Waitsfield: “Hidden Blueprints: The Art of Jeremy McKenzie”  which include intricate wood scroll pieces that the artist drew up first as blueprints, then hid away while he was in prison and created when he was released, suggested by Karen Nevin of Waitsfield.

Saturday, August 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Rock Point School in Burlington: Marylen Grigas' book launch for her new collection of poems titled SHIFT, suggested by Sharon Webster of Burlington.

Thursday, August 11 through Sunday, August 14 at Spotlight Vermont, South Burlington:"Dream - The Musical," Spotlight Vermont’s production of the adaptation of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream," suggested by Jen Barden of Burlington.

Through August 19 at the AVA Gallery in Lebanon, New Hampshire: Take Another Look: Aging with Dignity, a multi-media exhibit capturing the lives of seniors in the Upper Valley through portraits, quotations and short films made by local youth, suggested by Beth Kopp of Lebanon.

Through September 12, S.P.A.C.E. Gallery, Pine Street, Burlington: Call-to-artists for the The Art of Horror annual show.The gallery is looking for art submissions that best define "the art of horror." The collection will be on exhibit at S.P.A.C.E. Gallery and Back Space for the month of October.
