Art Hounds: Circus

May 30, 2013

Thursdays at 4:50 p.m. and Fridays at 7:55 a.m.

Jim Westbrook of Brattleboro suggested a trip to his town to take in the culmination of several young performers who have practiced for months to present, "An Improbable Misadventure of Circus Proportions," at the New England Center for Circus Arts next Saturday and Sunday.

VPR's own Robert Resnik, host of All The Traditions, called the hotline about "Drawn to Music," with sculptor Melinda White-Bronson and painter Nancy Stone. The exhibit begins June 4th at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Burlington.

The four young gentleman who make up the  Washed-up Beulah Band are anything but.  Its young members hail from Tinmouth, Shrewsbury and Brattleboro and Nelson Jacque called in about this jubilee gospel performance which is the final of the season at the Old Fire House in Tinmouth.

Quilter Diane McGill of Swanton called in about the Food Follies, a two-hour event, chock-full of local talent to benefit the Swanton Community Food Shelf on Saturday June 1st at 7 p.m.

One of the performers in Food Follies is musician Justin Gates who was recently featured as a VPR Classical Student-composer. You can listen back to his interview with Joe Goetz here.
