Art Hounds: Hoop Dreams

Peter Carey suggested a unique performance called, "hoopsuite," featuring Boston-area musicians and dancers.

The group generally takes their show to outdoor venues and basketball courts but on its summer tour around New England, hoopsuite will be performed at Bennington College's VAPA Theater this Saturday at 9 p.m.

Thomas Sullivan, owner of the Cider House in Waterbury recommended Liz LeServiget’s open house exhibit this weekend at her Moscow-Stowe studio, InkyDinky OinkInk.

The gallery will feature dog-related paintings, sculpture, puppets and more and is open from 11 till 5 on Saturday and Sunday, July 13 and 14. And yes, dogs are invited.

John Hammer is the former president of the Vermont Mozart Festival and he recommended theVermont Summer Music Festival's five performances this week, including the New Orford String Quartet.

Art event volunteer Roy Lloyd of Waterbury recommended the Waterbury Arts Fest this weekend on pedestrian-only Stowe Street in Waterbury. The fest includes music, performances, more than 60 Vermont-based artists and coincides with Waterbury's 250th birthday.

Wallingford dancer and painter Yvonne Brunot suggested the gypsy brass band Fanfare Ciocarlia in Central Park in New York City on July 14th.
