Art Hounds: Plays, Drumming And A Film Fest

This weekend in Brattleboro, over 36 short films plus a feature-length one will be shown as part of the 2nd Annual Ax Wound Film Fest.

VPR's Art Hounds suggest several staged plays, a West African drumming and dance workshop, an art exhibit and a horror film fest.

Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 3 to Nov. 6 at Town Hall Theater in Middlebury: ‘The Fantasticks,’ performed by Middlebury Community Players, suggested Kevin Commins from Middlebury.

Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 3 to Nov. 6 at Dibden Auditorium at Johnson State College: ‘Much Ado About Nothing,’set in modern-day Northeast Kingdom, recommended Beth Esmond from Jericho.

Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 3 to Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. in Waitsfield:‘Broken Circle’by local playwright Jeanne Beckwith performed by The Valley Players, recommended by Roger Strauss from Moretown.

Friday through Sunday, Nov. 4 to Nov. 6 at City Hall in Burlington: Jeh Kulu's 21st Annual Dance and Drum Festival at City Hall, West African dance and drum classes, workshops and performance suggested by Jamilah Vogel of Winooski.

Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. in Lyndon Center at Lyndon Institute: Alvin Ailey IIdance performance  presented by KCP Presents Performing Arts series and recommended by Rebecca McGregor of Lyndon Center.

Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5 at the Historic Grange Hall in Milton: Milton Artists' Guild Holiday Art Fest with live music, artworks and artists suggested by Kate Cadreact from Milton.

Saturday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. at Memorial Hall in Wilmington: Skeeter Creek, country music suggested by Alan Greenspan.

Saturday, Nov. 5, all day at Hooker-Dunham Theater in Brattleboro: The Second Annual Ax Wound Film Festival, featuring horror films, directed by women filmmakers with a Q&A to follow, suggested by Hannah Neurotica.

Saturday, Nov. 12 at Middlebury Town Hall Theater in Middlebury: The Hills Are Alive: Maiden Vermont with guest singer Elisabeth von Trapp suggested by Monica McInerney from Brandon.
