Big Band Anachronism, And Lots Of New Releases

A feast of new releases, beautiful music from the Cape Verde Islands, and lots of relatively new music that sounds very old!

This program will air on Sunday May 24th from 7 - 10 p.m.

This week's calendar announcements:

Vermont songwriter Jesse Peters will perform at the Putney public Library on Saturday May 30th at noon.

Alan Greenleaf and the Doctor will be appearing at "The Stage" in Lyndonville on Saturday, May 30th beginning at 8 p.m.

VT musician Adam Boyce portrays the late musical humorist Charles Ross Taggart (1871-1953) on Sunday, May 31at 3 p.m. at the Jewish Community of Greater Stowe, 1189 Cape Cod Rd. This is a VT Humanities event, and is free and open to the public.

Red Hot Juba will be playing at the Burlington Boathouse on Friday May 29th as part of the Voices For Vermont's Children Celebration. Music begins at 7 p.m.

Grammy award winning record producer Jim Rooney and Nashville Hall of Fame songwriter Pat Alger will share a musical evening along with multi instrumentalist and songwriter Chris Brashear on Sunday, May 31st at 7:30 p.m. at the Tunbridge Town Hall.

The As Yet Quintet, a world music group featuring Anna Patton on the clarinet, will perform at the West Village Meeting House on South St. in W. Brattleboro on Thursday May 28th at 7:30 p.m.

The Meeting House on the Green in E. Fairfield will host The Sky Blue Boys on Friday, May 29. Music begins at 7 p.m.

The Colonial Theater in Bethlehem, NH presents the Caravan of Thieves on Saturday May 30th at 8 p.m.

 
Legendary Irish fiddler Frankie Gavin will perform two shows at the Vermont Violin Shop in Burlington on Tuesday May 26th at 6 and at 8 p.m.  Reservations are strongly recommended. 
 

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
