Celebrating Mothers

Happy Mother's Day 2015!  From Herman's Hermits to Hazel Dickens, and many many local songwriters all singing about their mothers (or about being mothers!)

This program will air on Sunday May 10th from 7 - 10 p.m.

This weeks calendar announcements:

The Starry Mountain Singers will perform at the College St. Congregational Church in Burlington on Friday May 15th at 7:30 p.m, at the Goodrich Memorial Library in Newport on Saturday May 16th, and at the Hanover Friends Meeting House in Hanover, NH on Sunday May 17th at 7 p.m.

Mary McGinniss and the Selkies will play at Radio Bean in Burlington on Wednesday, May 13th at 7:30pm. 

Le Vent du Nord will perform at Higher Ground in South Burlington on Saturday May 16th and at the Whallonsburg Grange in Whallonsburg, NY on Sunday May 17th at 7 p.m.  The New York show will feature a Quebecois-style meal beginning at 5 p.m.

 Alan Greenleaf and the Doctor are giving a benefit concert for the Peacham Library on Saturday May 16th  at 7 p.m. at the Peacham Congregational Church. All proceeds go to the Library !

Máire Ní Chathasaigh & Chris Newman will perform at the Richmond Free Library on Sunday May 17th at 7:30 p.m.
Maire and Chris will also be at Old Songs in Voorheesville, NY on Saturday May 16th at 8 p.m.

Old Songs Concert Series presents Ustad Shafaat Khan, featuring this world-renowned Indian Classical musician performing on sitar, surbahar and tabla on Friday, May 15th at 8 p.m.

This month’s Tinmouth contra dance will feature caller Adina Gordon and music by Joanne Garton and Brendan Taafe. The dance will be held at the Tinmouth Community Center on Friday, May 15th at 8 p.m. with a beginners session beginning at 7:45.

The Catamount Coffeehouse in the Catamount Arts Center in St. Johnsbury presents an evening of Americana with Susan Trump on Friday May 15th at 7:30 p.m. 

The Michele Fay Band will be having a cd release party at the Ripton Community Church in Ripton on Saturday, May 16th at 7:30 p.m.   Proceeds go towards the continued restoration of this historical building.

There will be a special concert to celebrate Caffè Lena's 55th Anniversary on Saturday May 16th at 7 p.m. in the Arthur Zandel Music Center at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs featuring Jim Gaudet & the Railroad Boys, Beaucoup Blue, Sarah Lee Guthrie & Johnny Irion, The Wiyos, The Suitcase Junket, and Sara Milonovich & Greg Anderson.

The Monadnock Folklore Society presents the last in its series of English Country Dances on May 17th from 2 to 5 p.m.at the Nelson, NH Town Hall, with Adina Gordon teaching dances and with music provided by Peter Barnes and Lydia Ievins.

Possumhaw will be playing at the Meetinghouse Café in the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Bennington on Friday May 15th at 8 p.m. and at the Richmond Library on Saturday May 16th at 7:30 p.m.

The Colonial Theater in Bethlehem, NH presents Leo Kottke on Friday May 15th at 8 p.m.

On Saturday May 16th Vermont singer-songwriter Francesca Blanchard will perform for the benefit of The Joe Shook Scholarship Fund which provides scholarships for differently-abled campers to attend Partners In Adventure’s summer day-camp program. The show will also include performances by Williston fiddler Duncan Yandell, guitarist Dylan Hudson and R&B artist Jamell Rogers. The event will take place at the Williston Central School at 7 p.m.

Vermont bluesman Dave Keller will perform solo at the Whammy Bar in Calais on Thursday May 14th at 7 and with special guest Johnny Rawls at Sweet Melissa’s on Montpelier onFriday May 15th at 8 p.m.

The Green Mtn. Playboys will perform at Charlie O’s in Montpelier on Friday May 15th beginning at 10 p.m

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
