Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean addresses an audience including Vermont delegates during a morning session at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia on Tuesday.

Vermont's delegates at the DNC spent Tuesday morning reflecting on whether to follow Bernie Sanders' exhortation to back Hillary Clinton. But a breakfast meeting with fellow Vermonter Howard Dean didn't move the Sanders faithful off of their stance.

VPR's Peter Hirschfeld is at the convention in Philadelphia and talked to Vermont Edition about the split in the Vermont delegation. All of Vermont's 16 pledged delegates belong to Bernie Sanders, but the group is divided on how to proceed after Hillary Clinton is formally nominated, which is the expected outcome of Tuesday night's roll call vote.

Funding for VPR's reporting from the presidential conventions is made possible in part by the VPR Journalism Fund.
