Eunice, LA Comes To Burlington During Jazz Fest Week

Previewing some of the fine musicians performing next week at Burlington's Discover Jazz Festival, the unique and wonderful Strolling of the Heifers, an agricultural celebration in Brattleboro, and a rare appearance in our area by Marc and Ann Savoy and their sons Wilson and Joel - four of the world's greatest Cajun musicians!

This program will air on Sunday, May 31st from 7 - 10 p.m.

This week's calendar announcements:

Woodchuck’s Revenge will be playing at the Manchester Farmer’s market on Thursday June 4th from 3-6 p.m. and on Sunday June 7th at the Stowe farmer’s market beginning at 10:30am

Rani Arbo and Vermont guitarist Greg Ryan will be the featured performers at the Ripton Community Coffeehouse on Saturday June 6th.  The fabulous open mic begins at 7:30 followed by Rani and Greg.

The “Strolling of the Heifers” parade in Brattleboro will take place on Saturday June 6th at 10 a.m., with music and other events around town on Friday evening June 5th.  Alan Greenleaf and the Doctor will be playing in the parade, and at other venues on Friday.

Gypsy Reel will appearing at the Brandon Music Cafe at 62 Country Club Rd in Brandon Vt at 7.30pm on Saturday June 13th.

The Cocek Brass Band will be playing in Burlington on Sunday June 7th at noon as part of the Discover Jazz Festival and also at Radio Bean at 3 p.m.

Bob Amos & Catamount Crossing will perform on Saturday June 6th at 7 p.m. at the North Congregational Church on Main Street in St Johnsbury.

Vermont musician Jesse Peters continues his Vermont library tour this week with shows at the Old South Church in Windsor on Monday June 1st at 6:30 p.m., at the Norman Williams Library in Woodstock at noon on Tuesday June 2nd, at the Rutland Free Library on Wednesday June 3rd at 4 p.m., and at the Manchester Community Library on Thursday June 4th at 7 p.m.  All shows are free and open to all ages.

The Monadnock Folklore Society presents a special Contra Dance in Peterborough, NH on June 6th. Admission is free to this event which is both a contra dance and a celebration of the 60th wedding anniversary of two long-time contra dancers, Barbara and Mike Gilman.  The dance begins at 2 PM with Bob Isaacs calling with the band Spare Parts. There will be a break from 5 PM until 8 PM. The evening dance features Steve Zakon-Anderson calling with the band Tidal Wave until 11 PM. The dance also hosts an open jam session for beginning and intermediate musicians at 6:30 and a workshop for new dancers at 7:30 PM.

Lewis Franco and the Missing Cats will play at Leunig’s in Burlington on Sunday June 7th from 4 – 7 p.m.

Lamoille Home Health & Hospice is pleased to present Nashville hitmaker - songwriter, Joe Doyle along with his special guests The Mann Sisters and Kris Gruen, in concert on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. at Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center in a benefit concert for Lamoille Home Health & Hospice.  A reception will kick off the event at 6:00 p.m. with the concert to follow.  A special Songwriters Workshop will be held earlier that afternoon - registration required.

The Savoy Family Band, featuring Marc, Ann, Wilson, and Joel Savoy, will perform in Burlington on Sunday June 7th at Arts Riot on Pine St. at 7:30 p.m.  Yankee Chank will also be performing.

Vermont diva Francesca Blanchard will perform at Bread & Butter Farm in Shelburne on Friday June 5th in the late afternoon.

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
