Ewan MacColl Arrives At A Tango Festival

Where else on the dial can you find sea chanteys, cumbia from Colombia, the English folk hero Ewan MacColl, and a preview of an amazing tango festival coming up in and around Stowe next weekend?  Let's dance !

The Stowe Tango Music Festival will be held from August 19th – 23rd, and will bring together world-renowned tango musicians and an extraordinary group of selected students from all over the United States and Canada to present a unique series of performances throughout the Stowe area and region.  For more information check their website:

Mississippi Soul and Blues Man Johnny Rawls will perform with The Dave Keller Band at Sweet Melissa's in Montpelier on Friday August 21st at 8 p.m.

The Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center in Stowe, Vermont presents Scottish fiddle master Alasdair Fraser and Cellist Natalie Haas for a rousing Celtic music concert on Saturday, August 22nd at 8 p.m.

The Green Mountain Playboys will perform at Parker Pie in Glover on Saturday August 22nd at 8 p.m.

Come dance or just listen to Green Mountain Swing, a 17-piece Vermont big band, on Saturday, August 22nd at 7:30 p.m. at the Capital City Grange Hall in Montpelier.  This is a benefit concert to raise funds for the Shep Resnik Music Scholarship Fund, which supports music education for middle and high school students in Central Vermont.  Dancers: please bring soft-soled shoes. 

Frost and Fire will perform next weekend at the Quechee Scottish Festival on Saturday August 22nd.

Woodchuck’s Revenge will play on the Quechee Green on Thursday August 20th at 6:30 p.m.
 

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
