Beethoven struggled with the composition of his only opera, Fidelio, which underwent 10 years' worth of revisions before the version emerged which is now a part of the standard operatic repertoire. We'll hear excerpts performed by a range of great singers, including Kirsten Flagstad, Helge Rosvaenge, and Alfred Poell.
