Final One Taylor Street Event Rescheduled

Montpelier's fourth community participation event for the planning of the One Taylor Street transit center has been pushed back to September. The event was originally scheduled to be held on July 30. It will now take place on September 3 at 6 p.m. at the Montpelier Senior Activity Center.

The first three public participation meetings were designed to gather community input on the project. The goal of this fourth event, however, is to present initial design ideas based upon the feedback received at the first three meetings.

"The integration of publicly desired open space, safe and functional transit operations and parking needs of a viable private development on a very tight space is challenging," an announcement from the city states. "In the interest of presenting the best options to the public that accommodates community goals, transit needs and development realities additional time is needed by the development team. Over the next weeks, the development team will prepare site design and development concepts that balance these complex demands."

The announcement went on to say the the possibility of a late August meeting was ruled out in order to ensure that "the most participants would be able to attend this final meeting."
