Finance Report Shows Shumlin Back In The Black

Governor Peter Shumlin says he isn't thinking much about a 2014 campaign for re-election, but is squaring up accounts from old campaigns.

At a news conference yesterday, Shumlin said he's spending too much time doing the governor's job to worry yet about running for it.

Meanwhile, in Montpelier, his campaign filed a finance report showing he would have a big head start over any challenger.

Shumlin had more than $915-thousand dollars left over from his 2012 campaign, and he raised more than $87-thousand dollars during the first half of this year.

But he repaid a $275-thousand dollar loan he had made from his personal funds to his campaign in 2010. So his report yesterday showed nearly $707-thousand dollars in cash on hand.
