Giving Tuesday: Every Gift Benefits The Vermont Foodbank

Update for 12/2/15: What a day! Our original goal for our Giving Tuesday effort - which we thought was a stretch - was to bring in enough gifts to send 15,000 meals to the Vermont Foodbank. Thanks to 1,705 VPR supporters, our generous challengers are sending 25,575 meals instead. Your incredible generosity of spirit continues to astound us. We feel so fortunate to be able to serve this community. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and to our challengers for making this partnership possible.

The day also raised $93,000 for VPR, which puts a considerable dent into our financial goal for the December membership drive. We are also pleased to report that the Vermont Foodbank surpassed its own Giving Tuesday campaign goal!

Original Post 11/30/15: You’ve heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. December 1 is Giving Tuesday, a worldwide celebration of philanthropy during this season of gratitude. This year, VPR has partnered with the VermontFoodbank to provide healthy meals to hungry Vermonters.

With every gift to VPR today and tomorrow, a generous supporter in Shelburne will donate 15 meals to the Foodbank.

You can participate in this partnership at VPR.net, or call 800-639-6391.

Every gift makes a difference, and it’s a great way to help a family in need while supporting your public radio station. The Vermont Foodbank serves nearly 62,000 Vermont households and one in four Vermonters, including 34,000 children, 26,000 seniors, and 12,000 veterans annually.

In Vermont, we value strong communities and helping one another. Your gift to VPR now through Tuesday, December 1 means 15 meals for a hungry neighbor.

Thank you for being part of our community!
