The Vermont Supreme Court has cleared the way for a gasoline price fixing suit to proceed.
The defendants are four Vermont gasoline retailers and wholesalers, including R.L. Vallee, S.B. Collins, Wesco and Champlain Oil Company.
They had appealed a decision by Chittenden Superior Court judge Helen Toor that allowed the case to proceed, and this week the high court denied the appeal.
The suit, brought by a Charleston, West Virginia law firm on behalf of six individuals, argues that the businesses have long engaged in gasoline price fixing.
Earlier this month the state Supreme Court also rejected an effort by R.L Vallee to stop the retailer Costco from building a gas station at its store in Colchester.
