How We Celebrate "Spring"...

Fanfare Ciocarlia, one of the world's great Romany brass bands!

It certainly hasn't been feeling like spring in spite of the fact that we have just passed the vernal equinox, so we warm things up this week with both new and classic calypso, Gypsy brass bands, and with a new album of "classic American ballads" on Smithsonian Folkways Records!

This program will air on Sunday March 22nd from 7-10 p.m.

This week's calendar announcements:

The Michele Fay Band will be performing at Brandon Music, 62 Country Club Rd. in Brandon, on Saturday, March 28th at 7:30 p.m.  Delicious home-cooked American family style dinners and desserts are available before the show. 

Chickweed will perform on Wednesday  March 25th at Moog's Place in Morrisville. Music begins at 7pm.  Moog’s Place will also present Granite Junction on Friday March 27th at 9pm. 

On Thursday March 26th Nectar's will hold a 40th  Anniversary Concert: An Evening with Jamie Masefield, Jon Fishman, Doug Perkins, & Tyler Bolles.

Rani Arbo & Daisy Mayhem celebrate album release at the Big Picture Theater in Waitsfield on Sunday March 29th.

Lindsay Lou & the Flatbellys will be playing at Phanton, 112 Mad River Green Way in Waitsfield on Thursday March 26th. 

The Good Times Café in Hinesburg presents Pat Donohue on Tuesday and Wednesday March 24th and 25th.

The Foghorn String Band will perform at a square dance at the American Legion on Main St. in Montpelier on Thursday March 26th at 7:30 p.m. and at a concert at the Skinny Pancake in Montpelier on Sunday March 29th  at 7 p.m., 

The Gibson Brothers will perform at the Barre Opera House on Saturday March 28th at 8 p.m.

On Friday, March 27th Young Tradition Vermont and the James Family will be presenting a Coffeehouse House Concert at the home of Alison and Joplin James located at 338 Thompson Road in Shelburne. The concert is part of the Treewild series and will be held from 6:00-9:00 pm.  Dinner, dessert, wine, and chai will be served. This concert will feature performances by Hana Zara, Karen Krajacic, Cricket Blue, Addie Herbert and Eric George.  For information and reservations, call802-985-1124.

Francesca Blanchard will perform at Tourterelle in New Haven on Friday March 27th and at the South End Kitchen on Pine Street in Burlington on Saturday March 28th.

The Kingdom Coffeehouse at the Northwoods Stewardship Center in E. Charleston, VT presents the Sky Blue Boys on Saturday March 28th.

Dave Keller will be performing solo at Positive Pie in Hardwick on Thursday March 26th.

The Bright Wings Chorus will hold concerts on Friday, March 27th at Next Stage Arts in Putney at 7:30 pm and on Saturday, March 28th  at the Old Meeting House in East Montpelier at 7:30 pm

Palmer’s Sugarhouse in Shelburne presents Spencer Lewis on Saturday March 28th from noon until 4 and the Mystic Party Band on Sunday March 29th from 9am until 4 for a sugar-on-snow party.

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
