Organizers estimate that more than a thousand people gathered at the Burlington Waterfront on Saturday afternoon for a 5-K run-walk to show support for victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. Get Moving for Boston was created by Ryan Polly of Williston, who ran the 117th Boston Marathon last Monday, but was stopped on the course less than a mile from the finish line after the bombs exploded. Polly said Vermont runners and the broader community have expressed their thanks for a chance to show support and solidarity for victims of the Marathon bombing. Get Moving for Boston stated on its web site that $10,300 was raised Saturday for the Massachusetts General Hospital Emergency Fund that assists with medical bills for patients treated there.
