Is Hunting Still Part Of Vermont's Culture?

Oct 23, 2013

Hunters are in the Vermont forests and fields right now looking for bear and archers are hunting turkey and deer. Hunting season is upon us and many Vermonters are heading to deer camp.

But the numbers of those getting licenses has been dropping for years. Fish and Wildlife Commissioner Patrick Berry and Matt Crawford, the former outdoors editor of the Burlington Free Press, join us to discuss if hunting still plays a role in the Vermont culture.

Also on the program, Vermont Edition continues its week-long “State of Mind” series on mental health care in Vermont. In Part 3, Jane Lindholm goes inside the Vermont correctional system, which is bearing a significant responsibility for housing and treating people with mental illness.

Broadcast on Wed 10/23/13 at Noon & 7PM.
