Interview: 'Being A Rockefeller'

The name “Rockefeller” occupies a conspicuous place in the American imagination. Rockefellers are associated with capitalist power, politics and philanthropy. But the Rockefellers that are now four or five generations removed from the famous founder of Standard Oil, are continuing to seek purpose with that famous name, but with far less wealth than previous generations.

Eileen Rockefeller lives in Shelburne, and her new memoir explores what it was like growing up Rockefeller and how that has informed her work in philanthropy. Her book is Being a Rockefeller, Becoming Myself, and she spoke about it with VPR’s Patti Daniels.
