Iowans Take Solace: 'Caucus! The Musical' Feels Your Pain

This week, VPR's Report from Iowa has been exploring how caucus-goers in that state are weighing which presidential candidate they're going to support - in particular in the Democratic race between former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.

But as VPR's Patti Daniels learned, even the most faithful caucus-goers need an entertaining escape from the campaign rhetoric. And for that, they can head to the Des Moines Performing Arts Center, where Caucus! The Musical opened last Saturday.  The show's creator and producer Robert John Ford explains how he taps into the unique electoral situation that Iowans find themselves in.

Patti is an integral part of VPR's news effort and part of the team that created Vermont Edition. As executive producer, Patti supervises the team that puts Vermont Edition on the air every day, working with producers to select and research show ideas, select guests and develop the sound and tone of the program.
