Want to pet a cow? Here's your chance; it's Open Farm Week in Vermont!

This week is Open Farm Week in Vermont. And with nearly 90 farms participating around the state, you don't need to go far to have a personal farm experience.

Dig In Vermont, the website of the Vermont Agriculture and Culinary Tourism Council, offers several ways to plan your farm adventure online. You can look up events by the day or use an interactive map to narrow in on events by location and/or agricultural activity.

"During Vermont Open Farm Week, you can meet the farmers, plants, and animals that bring your favorite high-quality Vermont products to your plate," the Dig In Vermont blog states. "What’s the greatest part about Open Farm Week? Every farm is unique! Milk a cow and harvest a carrot at one farm, sit on a tractor and take in the smell of freshly cut hay at another."

Different farms are offering activities throughout the week, from animal encounters to wine tastings.
