January Snows, Memphis, and Leonard

We start out 2015 with Leonard Cohen's new album, a trip to Memphis, songs that were and weren't written by Steve Goodman, and, of course, a healthy sampling of music by Vermont artists...

This weeks calendar announcements:

Kina Zore' will be bringing his global sounds of peace and brotherhood to the Tunbridge Town Hall on Saturday, January 10th at the Tunbridge Town Hall in a concert presented by MountainFolk. Showtime is 7:30 p.m., and doors open at 7.

The Ed Larkin Contra Dancers will hold an open house at the Tunbridge Town Hall on Friday January 9th at 7:30 p.m. The evening will feature live music and refreshments at intermission.

Jefferson Hamer and Kristin Andreassen will perform at the Richmond Congregational Church on Sunday January 11th at 4 p.m.

The Northern Harmony Quartet will perform harmony singing on the subjects of love, loss, praise and cold weather, with music from the Renaissance performed alongside traditional duets, trios and quartets from the United States, Georgia, Corsica, Sweden and South Africa on Friday January 9th at 7:30 p.m. at the Grace Episcopal Church in Amherst, MA.

The Michele Fay Band will play at The Skinny Pancake in Burlington on Friday, January 9th at 8:00 p.m. 

The Northern Bronze Handbell Ensemble will perform at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Vergennes on Friday January 9th at 7:30 p.m. and at the Stowe Community Church on Sunday January 11th at 3 p.m.

Dana and Susan Robinson will play at Burnham Hall in Lincoln on Saturday, January 10th. Doors open at 7 p.m.  

Pete Sutherland and Pete’s Posse will be performing as part of the Shelburne Vineyard’s First Thursday Concert Series on Thursday January 8th at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, January 10, Shady Rill: Patti Casey and Tom MacKenzie perform at the Adamant Methodist Church. The music will start at 7:00 with an optional potluck starting at 5:30 before the show

Next Stage Arts Project and Twilight Music present singer/songwriter Antje Duvekot plus Hayley Reardon and Hannah Hoffman at Next Stage on Saturday, January 10th at 7:30 pm.

Vermont musician Bow Thayer will be performing at Pierce Hall in Rochester on Saturday January 10th with Dylan Sevey and the Gentlemen.

Josh Brooks will be playing at Radio Bean in Burlington on Tuesday January 6th at 9 p.m.

 
 

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
