You may think you know The New England Patriots. Brady, Belichick and five Super Bowl championships; what's more to know? But author Glenn Stout's new book, The Pats: An Illustrated History of the New England Patriots, serves up details, anecdotes and stories from the team's nearly 60-year history that will surprise even die-hard Pats fans.
Stout joins Vermont Edition to discuss the team's beleaguered beginnings in the AFL under owner Billy Sullivan, to their luckless decades in the NFL, to the slow and uncertain path to victory.
And Stout discusses the photographs, programs, logos, magazine covers and other images from co-author Richard A. Johnson that make up the "illustrated" aspects of the book and the team's story.
Stout and Anderson have appearances and signings around the release of the book, including:
- Northshire Bookstore in Manchester on Friday, Nov. 30, at 6 p.m.
- Gibson's Bookstore in Concord, NH on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 5:30 p.m.
Broadcast on Friday, Nov. 30, 2018 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
