Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., left, talks with Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., before caucus organizing meetings electing their leadership for the 115th Congress, Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016, on Capitol Hill in Washington.

Senator Patrick Leahy was easily re-elected in November to his eighth U.S. Senate term, but the Senate he is returning to has changed, and so has his role in it.

Leahy will be live on Vermont Edition to talk about why he's shifting his focus from the Judiciary Committee to the Appropriations Committee,  and why Democrats are divided over how to work with the incoming Trump Administration.

Broadcast live on Friday, December 2, 2016 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
