Longtime Burlington Chimney Sweep Shares His Chimney Care Experience And Advice

With fall already here and winter coming, it's the time of year many people start thinking about using their fireplaces or woodstoves. But what about those individuals who help make sure the chimney is in proper working order?

David Kehoe, owner of Artful Chimney Services in Burlington, has been a chimney sweep for decades. He joined Vermont Edition on Wednesday to talk about his work as a chimney sweep, how he got into the profession and tips for chimney maintenance.

"It's exciting," Kehoe says of his job. "You're going down the road in your truck and you hear the ladders whistling through the wind – and every place you go, it's like a new adventure."

Speaking of adventures, he also discussed some of the animals that he's encountered in chimneys over the years.
