Vermonters head to the polls Tuesday for the 2016 primary election.

Low voter turnout aside, Tuesday's primary election will be very important. Vermonters will decide on who will be on the ballot in November when a new governor and lieutenant governor are elected.

On Tuesday, many contested State House and Senate races also will be decided.

A panel of some of the state's top political reporters takes a look at Tuesday's primary. Terri Hallenbeck of Seven Days, Neal Goswami of the Vermont Press Bureau, and VPR's Peter Hirschfeld join us.

Broadcast live on Friday, Aug. 5, 2016 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.

Ric was a producer for Vermont Edition and host of the VPR Cafe.
Bob Kinzel has been covering the Vermont Statehouse since 1981 — longer than any continuously serving member of the Legislature. With his wealth of institutional knowledge, he answers your questions on our series, "Ask Bob."
