Low Milk Prices Vex Dairy Farmers

The prices that dairy farmers get for milk are down this summer. Economists will tell you it's supply and demand, and there's a lot of milk being produced in the U.S. and around the world. But the picture is complicated for Vermont farms that are trying to respond to the market.

On the next Vermont Edition, we look at how Vermont's dairy industry is doing amid market fluctuations. Our guests are Vermont Agriculture Secretary Chuck Ross, and agriculture economist Bob Parsons with the UVM Extension Service.

Also in the program, a town-wide makeover for Bethel. Pop-up shops and temporary installations will give residents at what their town would be like with new bike lanes, revitalized vacant buildings, a beer garden and more public art. We hear from Rebecca Sanborn Stone, one of the organizers of Better Block Bethel.
