Michael Hurley Returns, And So Do Peter Yarrow And Archie Fisher !

Michael Hurley, visiting Vermont this week !

Just a few of the many many springtime performances in our area this week: Former Vermont resident and folk music icon Michael Hurley returns to our area for a very rare show in E. Fairfield, Peter Yarrow plays just over the New Hampshire state line, and Scottish bard Archie Fisher returns to the Whallonsburg, NY grange hall along with Jez Lowe and James Keelaghan, two other amazing songwriters.

This program will air on Sunday  April 19th from 7 - 10 p,m,

This week's calendar announcements:

The Dave Keller Band will perform at the St. Albans maple festival on Friday April 24th at 6 p.m.

On Friday April 24th at 7 p.m. Gypsy Reel will perform at an acoustic concert at the Old Firehouse in Tinmouth.

‘3 to the bar’, an acoustic trio including members of Gypsy Reel, will play  at the SILO Distillery in Windsor on Sunday April 26th at 3.30 p.m.

The Stockwell Brothers bring their contemporary bluegrass and folk music to the Mole Hill Theatre in Alstead, NH on Friday, April 24th at 7:30 p.m.

Next Stage Arts Project and Twilight Music present an evening of acoustic/electric indie-instrumental and folk-pop music by Brooklyn, NY-based guitar duo Threefifty, plus Vermont-based singer/songwriters Paul Siegel and Lizzy Mandell, on Saturday, April 25 at 7:30 pm at Next Stage at 15 Kimball Hill in downtown Putney.

A Community Family Dance (Contras, Etc!) featuring  Robin Russell (accordion)  and David Kaynor (fiddle) with Friends of the Dance  will be held on Friday, April 24th from 7- 9pm at the Chandler Center for the Arts in Randolph.

Francesca Blanchard will be playing at the South End Kitchen in Burlington on Saturday April 25th beginning at  7 p.m.

The Whallonsburg, NY Grange Hall will present three of folk music’s greatest songwriters, Archie Fisher, Jez Lowe, and James Keelaghan, in a concert entitled “Men At Words,” on Thursday, April 23rd  at 7:30 p.m. These three musicians will also be performing together at Old Songs in Voorheesville, NY on Friday April 24th .

Eliza Gilkyson will perform at Cafe Lena in Saratoga Springs on Sunday, April 26th at 7 p.m.  Café Lena will also be featuring Steve Katz on Friday April 24th at 8pm and Peter Mulvey on Saturday April 25th, also at 8.

Blackbird, a Celtic and Scandinavian music duo featuring Vermont musicians Rachel Clark and Bob DeMarco, will be playing at Brandon Music, 62 Country Club Rd. in Brandon, on Saturday April 25th at 7:30 p.m.

The Hopkins Center in Hanover, NH presents the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain on Wednesday April 22nd. The Ukulele Orchestra will also be at the Flynn Center in Burlington on Tuesday April 21st.

The Vermont band Chickweed will be playing at the Kingdom Tap Room in St. Johnsbury on Friday April 24th at 7:30 p.m. 

Peter Yarrow will be presenting an evening of conversation and song on Sunday, April 26 at Court Street Arts at Alumni Hall in Haverhill, NH 

The Meeting House on the Green in E. Fairfield presents a rare local performance by legendary Vermont musician Michael Hurley on Saturday April 25th. Doors open at 6:30, music begins at 7.

The UVM Lane Series presents the Nordic Fiddlers Bloc on Friday April 24th at 7 p.m. at the University of Vermont recital hall featuring Kevin Henderson from the Shetland Islands, Anders Hall from Sweden, and Olav Luksengard Mjelv from Norway.

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
