Each year the Librarian of the Library of Congress designates 25 recordings for inclusion in the National Recording Registry. According to the provisions of the National Preservation Act of 2000, these recordings must be at least ten years old and are "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." This week, My Place presents part one of a two part series in which many of the latest 25 selections are presented and their significance discussed. Memorable recordings by Blind Lemon Jefferson, Johnny Mercer and Tennessee Ernie Ford are among the selections included.
