Bert Berns was a singer, songwriter, producer and record company executive who helped create some of the most memorable hit singles of the 1960's.
 
He fostered the early careers of several of the rock era's biggest stars including Neil Diamond and Van Morrison.Running off-Broadway in Manhattan until September 14th, 2014 is a stage musical titled, Piece Of My Heart - The Bert Berns Story. The musical is produced by Bert's children Brett and Cassie who are curators of his publishing catalog.
 
This week on My Place, hear an hour of Bert Berns' most significant music including enduring hits by the McCoys, The Isley Brothers, Solomon Burke and others.

Joel has been a part of Vermont's radio scene since 1964. He began his career at WIPS in Ticonderoga, New York. In 1965, he moved to WFAD in Middlebury, Vermont, where he attended Middlebury College. Over the years, Joel worked at radio stations WJOY, WQCR, WDOT, WDEV and WVAA where he served at various times as Morning Announcer, Program Director and News Director.
