My Place: Female Singing Groups Of Early Rock & Roll

AP
Members of the singing quartet the Crystals, from left, Dee Dee, Francis, Barbara and La La, arrive from the United States at London Airport, England, in 1964.

During the early to mid 1960's there was a proliferation of teenage female vocal singing groups in Top 40 popular music, and many of these groups had clever and memorable names.

Joel Najman's My Place samples a baker's dozen of these groups, with selections by the Angels, Chiffons, Dixie Cups and many others.

Broadcast Saturday, Feb. 15 at 8:00 p.m.
