My Place: Singer/Songwriter Rose Marie McCoy, 1922-2015 Part Two

This week, Joel Najman's "My Place" program presents a concluding part two of the Rose Marie McCoy story.

On Jan. 20, 2015, singer and songwriter Rose Marie McCoy passed away at age 92. As a tunesmith, her first original song was recorded in 1946 and her most recent new song recorded was in 2013, marking an active songwriting career that spanned 67 years. This week, Joel Najman's My Place program presents a concluding part two of the Rose Marie McCoy story, which took her from a farm in Arkansas to the heart of New York City's bustling popular music industry in midtown Manhattan's Brill Building. Featured are many of Rose Marie McCoy's most significant compositions, including recordings by Ike & Tina Turner, Elvis Presley and by Rose Marie McCoy herself.

Joel has been a part of Vermont's radio scene since 1964. He began his career at WIPS in Ticonderoga, New York. In 1965, he moved to WFAD in Middlebury, Vermont, where he attended Middlebury College. Over the years, Joel worked at radio stations WJOY, WQCR, WDOT, WDEV and WVAA where he served at various times as Morning Announcer, Program Director and News Director.
