New Releases From Old Standbys

Kitty Wells, the "queen of country music"!

New releases from Ry Cooder, Leonard Cohen, and Buffy Sainte-Marie, songs from Kitty Wells, Patsy Cline, and Tammy Wynette, and a preview of the GottaGetGon family folk festival, one of the first folk festivals of the summer!

This program will air on Sunday, May 17th from 7-10 p.m.

This week's calendar announcements:

The 45th Annual GottaGetGon folk festival will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday May 22nd to  24th at the Saratoga County Fairgrounds in Ballston Spa, NY.  Featured performers include Brooks Williams, Tumbling Bones, the Windborne Singers, and many more.

The 13th Annual Farewell Reunion will be presented on Friday May 22nd at 7 p.m.at Grace Church in Sheldon. It's a benefit concert supporting the Tom Sustic Fund, which supports families with children with life-threatening/life-altering conditions. The 1st half will include the Sheldon Elementary School Chorus, Hannah Beth Crary, Doug Perkins, Dono Schabner with Will Patton, Latimer Hoke and Maddy Hejna, and Michele and Fabio Choiniere and the entire 2nd half will feature Wild Vine, a new group including old friends Will & Deb Patton, Marcia Brewster and Mark Struhsacker.

The Brattleboro Memorial Day Dawn Dance will be held at the Gibson-Aiken Center on Sunday, May 24th - English Country Dancing from 2:30 - 5:30 with lydia ievins and Peter Barnes, musicians, and Barbara Finney caller, and contra dancing from 8 pm to 7 am Monday morning with bands Spare Parts, Frost and Fire, and The Gig Hunters, with callers, Bill Olson, Adina Gordon and Dave Eisenstadter.

John Specker and his daughters Lila and Ida Mae will perform a Concert of Traditional Fiddle and Banjo Music at the Andover, VT, Town Hall on Saturday, May 23rd, from 2:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. All are Welcome, including children of all ages, and Admission is Free.

Patrick Fitzsimmons will be playing at the Bar Antidote in Vergennes on Wednesday May 20th from 7 – 9 p.m.  No cover!

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
