NPR One: A New Way To Experience VPR

NPR One is a smartphone app that connects you to a stream of public radio news, stories and podcasts from around the world and your own backyard.

  1. Download NPR One for iOS devices
  2. Download NPR One for Android
  3. Download NPR One for Windows
  4. Download NPR One for Amazon

When you open the app, select VPR as your local station. At the start of each listening session you’ll get the latest headlines...even if it’s not the top of the hour. From there you’ll move through a flow of handpicked NPR and VPR stories. It’s public radio on your schedule; you can play, pause, and skip to your heart’s content. As you listen, if you particularly enjoy a story, mark it “interesting.” Over time NPR One will learn what you like and better curate your content.
If you’re looking for something specific, use the search feature to find your favorite shows, stations and podcasts, or just skip ahead to look at upcoming stories.

From in-depth news coverage to breaking news stories, you can enjoy the NPR One app for free right now, whatever your device or location.

How is this different than the current VPR and NPR apps?

The media landscape has shifted significantly over the last several years and audiences have shifted the way we consume radio, television, music, and even printed media. From podcasts to Pandora, people are looking for new, mobile ways to consume personalized content. At VPR, we are dedicated to providing the best news and stories to our audience - however you choose to listen. We see NPR One as a new way to experience all that VPR has to offer - that’s tailor-made for your schedule and interests. It may also introduce public radio to an audience not accustomed to listening to the radio.

We’ve been working closely with NPR to provide a strong a local presence in the app, so you’ll still hear the familiar voices you trust, and stories from your own backyard.

We hope you'll try NPR One and let us know what you think!
