In January, Governor Shumlin declared that Vermont was facing a "full blown heroin crisis." His state of the state address drew national attention to Vermont, and asked the legislature to address the problem head on. Did the governor get what he wanted? Will the bills passed by the legislature this session help those suffering from opiate addiction?

We’ll talk to Todd Centybear, director of the Howard Center in Burlington, to see what challenges treatment providers are facing right now. And we'll hear from Sam Capogrossi, the Community Coordinator for Rutland’s new Rapid Intervention Program to learn about the pre-trial diversion program being set up there. We'll also hear from Joel Page, Lamoille County State's Attorney, about what tools are available to small county prosecutors.

Also on the show, we'll get an update on how Burlington voters weighed in on the latest iteration of the school budget.

Broadcast live on Wednesday, June 4 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
