The cost of health plans on Vermont Health Connect may rise again next year, especially for customers of BlueCross BlueShield of Vermont.
BlueCross BlueShield proposed an 8.4 percent increase in healthcare premiums over 2015 rates, and MVP Health Care proposed a 3 percent increase.
Under the state law establishing the Green Mountain Care Board in 2011, rate changes in health plans are subject to approval by the board.
The board received rate increase proposals from both private vendors that sell health plans on Vermont Health Connect and will decide whether to approve or deny the increases by August 13.
The board is taking comments from the public on the proposed increases until July 29. More information on that is available on the web here.
There will be public hearings at the statehouse on July 28 (for the MVP increase) and 29 (for the BlueCross BlueShield increase).
