Public Hearings On State Budget Start This Week

The state will hold two hearings beginning this week to gather public input on the fiscal year 2016 state budget.

The forums will be held at Vermont Interactive Technologies sites around the state. The sites will be linked via closed circuit television.

Secretary of Administration Jeb Spaulding will host the hearings alongside Jim Reardon, the commissioner of the Department of Finance and Management.

The first hearing, on Tuesday, October 14 from 2-4 pm, will cover all aspects of the budget excluding the Agency of Human Services.

The second hearing on Tuesday, October 28 from 6-8 pm, will focus exclusively on the Agency of Human Services budget.

The hearings are the result of 2012 legislation that called for the forums to allow Vermonters to weigh in on priorities before the Governor presents a budget to the legislature in January.
