Putney Central School students in Leah Toffolon’s eighth grade social studies class put that question to people in Putney one day this fall. They recorded the answers and edited them into vox pops audio montages set to music, and posted their work on the website SoundCloud.
How would you like to be part of the world's longest running citizen science program? Sunday kicks off the 115th annual Christmas Bird Count, and birders throughout the state are invited to participate.
The count is conducted in specific areas, known as Christmas Bird Count circles. Each 15-mile diameter circle is managed by an experienced birder. Leaders and their contact information are listed on the website Vermont ebird.
Last week Vermont's capital city was one of 16 communities the White House named Climate Action Champions for Leadership on Climate Change. In addition to the superhero-sounding designation, the honor comes with exclusive U.S. Department of Energy funding opportunities and technical assistance only available to the designated Climate Action Champion communities.
