Responding To Water Contamination In North Bennington

Mar 8, 2016

Vermont officials have been testing over a hundred wells in North Bennington and Bennington for the potentially hazardous chemical PFOA - after the substance was found in private wells near a former factory that used the chemical. We're looking at the latest on the contamination, the state's response, and the plan going forward.

We're joined by VPR reporter Taylor Dobbs for the latest from Governor Shumlin's visit to North Bennington today. Also with us are Chuck Schwer, director of the Vermont DEC’s waste management and prevention division, and Sarah Vose, state toxicologist at the Vermont Department of Health. We'll also hear from Bennington town manager Stuart Hurd, and we'll be joined by environmental advocate Erin Brockovich.

The state's information hotline for the water contamination situation is (802)-828-1038.
