On The Road With George Washington

Feb 15, 2016

Ever seen a "George Washington slept here" sign? It turns out there's a reason that they're so common. Our first President covered a lot of ground. In the first years of his presidency, he took a series of trips to all 13 states - braving occasionally shoddy accommodation and lousy food to sell the new country on  his vision for a unified nation.

For Presidents Day, we're talking about Washington's journey with T.H. Breen - historian, University of Vermont professor-at-large, and author of the new book: "George Washington's Journey: The President Forges a New Nation."

Also on the program, Vermont author Richard Hawley on his latest work, "Greeve's Passing: A Novel in Fugue."

Broadcast live on Mon., Feb. 15, 2016 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
