Small Schools, Big Questions

May 23, 2014

The Legislature spent a lot of time this session debating over how to consolidate many of the state's smaller school districts. But the House and Senate couldn't agree on whether consolidation should be voluntary or mandatory. Friday on Vermont Edition, we look at what's next for Vermont's small schools and small school districts, and the impact size has on the quality and cost of education. Our guest is Education Secretary Rebecca Holcombe.

Also in the program, Vermont Republicans are are still determining whose name will be on the ballot against Democratic Governor Peter Shumlin. Political analyst Eric Davis looks at the GOP bench and the party's ability to put up strong contenders in statewide races.

And we listen back to some of the voices in this week's news.
