The economic forces affecting middle class Americans have been the subject of debate and scrutiny, recently, and issues like income equality and upward mobility are at the forefront of the president’s State of the Union address Tuesday night.
Wednesday on Vermont Edition, we look at the distribution of wealth and income in Vermont, and what that means for the state’s economy. Our guests are UVM economist Art Woolf and policy expert Jack Hoffman from the Public Assets Institute. We also hear perspectives from James Haslam of the Vermont Workers Center and Lisa Ventriss of the Vermont Business Roundtable.
Also in the program, Vermont's poet laureate and cartoonist laureate (yes, there is a cartoonist laureate!) have joined forces to collaborate on a storytelling project that stretched both of their skill sets. We hear from poet Syndey Lea and cartoonist James Kolchalka about the Vermont Double Laureate Team-Up.
And we take a tour of popular exhibits at the Vermont Farm Show, including the robotic milking machine and pen of surprise fall lambs.
