Summer Time Is Festival Time

The Green River Festival, the Middlebury Festival on the Green, and Winooski's French Heritage Day are all coming up in our area this week, plus all kinds of individual performances too!

This program airs on Sunday July 5th from 7 - 10 p.m.

This week's calendar announcements:

A Larkin Dancers Contra Dance with live music will be held at the Tunbridge Town Hall on Friday July 10th at 7:30 p.m.

The Ustad Shafaat Khan Ensemble Performs Indian Classical Music at Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center in Stowe on Saturday, July 11th 

The Mike and Ruthy Band featuring Ruth Ungar and Mike Merenda will be at the Middlebury Festival on Green on Wednesday July 8th, at the Phantom in Waitsfield on Thursday July 9th, at the Skinny Pancake in Burlington on Friday July 10th, and as part of the Twilight on the Tavern Lawn series in Putney on Sunday July 12th. 

The Bluegrass Gospel Project will perform at the Middlebury Festival on the Green on Thursday evening July 9th.  The festival will also be featuring Darlingside, Vance Gilbert, Rik Palieri, Ten Strings and A Goat Skin, Ray Vega, and many more.

French Heritage Day in Winooski will be held on Saturday July 11th. Featured musicians include Va et Vient, Pete’s Posse, Deja Nous, and many more.

The Inner Fire District, a fabled Vermont band that plays Eastern European music, will perform at Sushi Yoshi in Stowe on Thursday July 9th at 5pm and at the Whammy Bar in Calais onSaturday July 11th at 7:30 p.m.

 Hot Flannel will be giving an outdoor concert on the Saranac Lake, NY town green on Wednesday July 8th 

The 21st Annual Quebec Sacred Harp Convention will be Friday July 10th at 7:30 p.m. at BCS chapel in Lennoxville, Quebec, and Saturday, July 11th beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Community Hall in Ways Mills, Quebec, with a potluck lunch and followed by an evening barbecue.

The Westford summer concert series on the common presents the Starline Rhythm Boys on Sunday July 12th beginning at 7pm.  Please bring a blanket or a lawn chair!

Charlie Parr will be in concert at the Cafe Lena in Saratoga Springs on Sunday, July 12th at 7 p.m.  

The Hopkins Center in Hanover, NH presents zydeco masters C.J. Chenier and his Red Hot Louisiana Band on Thursday July 9th 

Ace fiddler Jeremy Kittel will perform at the First Congragational Church in Thetford on Thursday July 9th at 7 p.m.

New York songwriter Jeffrey Pepper Rodgers will be playing at the Keene Valley, NY Congregational Church on Saturday July 11th at 8 & 10 p,m,

The Grace Church in Sheldon presents ancient music with Anima on Friday July 10th at 7:30 p.m.

The Wood Brothers will perform at the Colonial Theater in Bethlehem, NH on Friday July 10th at 8 p.m. 

The Green River Festival will be held from Friday – Sunday July 10 – 12 at Greenfield Community College in Greenfield, MA.  Featured performers include Steve Earle and the Dukes, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, the Stray Birds, Eilen Jewell, the Punch Brothers, and many many more !

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
