VPR Cafe: Not Your Usual Berry

Glenn Russell FREE PRESS
John Hayden holds a handful of red currants at The Farm Between in Jeffersonville

Summer brings a variety of delicious berries. Most notably strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. But there are other varieties grown in Vermont that you may have never tried: black and red currants, gooseberries and elderberries. Melissa Pasanen, who writes for the "Savorvore" section of The Burlington Free Press, tells us about how they're grown and how to enjoy them. You'll find recipes for Gooseberry Fool, Melissa's Currant Salad Dressing, and Currant Sorbet in the article.
