Previewing some of the fine musicians performing next week at Burlington's Discover Jazz Festival, the unique and wonderful Strolling of the Heifers, an agricultural celebration in Brattleboro, and a rare appearance in our area by Marc and Ann Savoy and their sons Wilson and Joel - four of the world's greatest Cajun musicians!

On Saturday, May 9th at 8:00 p.m. the   second Saturday contradance with Northern Spy will be held in Tracy Hall in Norwich. David Millstone is the caller, and there will be a walk-through and introduction for new dancers at 7:45 pm.

Just a few of the many many springtime performances in our area this week: Former Vermont resident and folk music icon Michael Hurley returns to our area for a very rare show in E. Fairfield, Peter Yarrow plays just over the New Hampshire state line, and Scottish bard Archie Fisher returns to the Whallonsburg, NY grange hall along with Jez Lowe and James Keelaghan, two other amazing songwriters.

This week's program will feature, in addition to the wealth of local music, new releases, and classic recordings, a live-in-the-studio performance by Appalachian musicians Anna Roberts-Gevalt and Elizabeth LaPrelle recorded in March when they came through our area on a tour showcasing their brand new CD.

A bow to John Renbourn, one of the acoustic guitar greats, who died last week at the age of 70 (a milestone that seems younger and younger the older we all get!)  Add to that songs to celebrate April and spring, plus a rare version of Dylan's Just Like 'Tom Thumb's Blues - performed by Nina Simone!
