This weekend Capital City Concerts will present an orchestral concert in Montpelier and Rutland, featuring 26 musicians drawn from the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and other groups. Music of Mozart, Debussy, Mendelssohn, Ravel and Wagner will be on the program. CCC director and flutist Karen Kevra gives us a preview.

David Kaplan Live

On Saturday, November 10, pianist David Kaplan will play Bach's Goldberg Variations at College Street Congregational Church, under the auspices of the Burlington Ensemble. David joins us Friday morning for a live performance preview.

Tuesday evening at FlynnSpace, the long-time violinist of the Guarneri Quartet, Arnold Steinhardt, will talk about and play Bach's Solo Violin Partita in D minor, which includes the famous Chaconne.  It's part of the Lake Champlain Chamber Music Festival and we'll get a preview this morning at 11 when he visits VPR's Walter Parker.

We'll celebrate pianist Simone Dinnerstein's 40th birthday with her recording of Beethoven's last piano sonata.  She returns to Chandler Center for the Arts in Randolph in January of 2013.

Peter and the Wolf

This weekend Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf will be performed in Brattleboro and Bellows Falls by the UConn Puppet Arts Program with narration by Tony Barrand and live music by the Hugh Keelan Ensemble. 

We'll listen to it today narrated by the rock star Sting.
