A Prairie Home Companion

Saturday at 6 p.m.
  • Hosted by Chris Thile

The only live music and variety show aired nationwide today, A Prairie Home Companion draws new, diverse talent to public radio. The program features a blend of musical performances, comedy and collaborations that can't be heard anywhere else.

Garrison Keillor will be hosting A Prairie Home Companion for the last time Saturday, July 2. We think this calls for a celebration to honor Garrison!

A Prairie Home Companion Host Garrison Keillor has announced that he will retire as host after next season. He told the Associated Press in a video interview that his plan “is to be a gray eminence” and “fade away into well-deserved obscurity.”

“I have a lot of other things that I want to do. I mean, nobody retires anymore. Writers never retire. But this is my last season. This tour this summer is the farewell tour," the 72-year-old Keillor said.
